Work Experience Programs
The Work Start program provides immigrant youth with 8 weeks of paid work experience in various roles that are a match with their previous work and education background, skills and interests. Work placements are supplemented with Friday employability skills sessions on Canadian workplace expectations, culture and communication, to assist with participants’ transition to current job opportunities with host organizations.
Eligibility Criteria: 18 to 30 years of age, must be a permanent resident of Canada, not in receipt of Employment Insurance in the last 5 years, have not received funding supports from another program.

Refugee Employment Development Initiative (REDI)
The Refugee Employment Development Initiative (REDI) is a unique multi-part program that offers refugees with lower level English skills an opportunity to increase their language and workplace skills and enter the Canadian labour market.
The program aims to address labour shortages within high demand sectors. Current opportunities are in Manufacturing and Welding.
Eligibility criteria for all Streams: Permanent Residents, Citizens and Refugees claimants with work permit with English Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) between 1 – 4.

Manitoba Start Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS)
The Manitoba Start Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS) supports Winnipeg youth in developing their skills and gaining paid work experience (8 weeks full-time or 16 weeks part-time) to successfully transition into their desired career. Youth will be matched to a Winnipeg employer for their paid work experience that aligns with their education, skills and/or interests, plus connect weekly to Career Development support from a Manitoba Start Career Coach.
