Athletic Therapist

Duties

The Blizzard Junior A Hockey Club is seeking a full-time, contract Athletic Therapist, for the 2024-2025 hockey season. If you are a highly energetic individual who possesses excellent work ethic, attention to detail and you possess a team-orientated attitude, we want you to become a part of our team! The successful individual will be required to full-fill the following tasks:

  • Available for practice times daily and be on the bench for all practices and games in case of injuries
  • Provide medical attention to players, at all team functions including home and away games as well as practices
  • Travel with the team for away games
  • Must be able to wrap ankles, wrists, knees, shoulders etc.
  • Inventory kept on medical equipment on monthly and yearly basis
  • Medical records kept for every player on every injury – folder for each player for medical purposes/insurance
  • Reports all injuries to the General Manager/Head Coach as well as Hockey Manitoba
  • Arrange medical appointments for dentist, therapy, doctor visits/massage for players

Qualifications

Applicants must have both of the following courses completed and passed (you may apply for this position if you have not yet taken these courses, however, you must complete and pass for employment purposes)

  1. Respect in Sport – Through Hockey Manitoba
  2. Safety – Through Hockey Manitoba
Applicants must also have one of the following:
  • Certified Athletic Therapist
  • Physiotherapist
  • Emergency First responder
  • Bachelor of Kinesiology
  • Nurse
  • Doctor
  If qualifications permit, this position may be combined with the Equipment Manager position.
