Are you interested in building a career in developing Canadian youth who are better prepared for success? Scouts Canada is hiring for Program Specialists for its Learning to Lead Program.

Scouts Canada is the country’s leading youth organization, offering programming for children and youth aged 5-26.  With over 50,000 participants across the country, in multiple languages, and reflecting Canada’s multicultural landscape, Scouts Canada envisions the “Canadian youth making a meaningful contribution to creating a better world.” The Program Specialist role requires passionate people who can create, plan, and execute memorable, fun, and safe training programs for youth aged 18+ within their local communities.

 

What you bring to the table:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience (Business, marketing, or recreational education is an asset)
  • Minimum two years’ experience in recreational programming, hospitality, or education sector
  • Expert knowledge of outdoor camping, experiences, and skills, including fire and environmental safety
  • General knowledge of food services and food safety
  • Possess a valid driver’s license – able to provide a clean drivers abstract
  • Standard First Aid and CPR (or ability to obtain)
  • Proficient with MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both online and in person
  • Knowledge of Scouts Canada, the Scouting program and its operation is an asset

Working Conditions:

  • Remote position with shift work required, including evenings and weekends
  • 10% In-person work
  • Moderate travel required
  • Some exposure to environmental conditions (rain, snow, heat and cold)
  • Physical Demands such as moderate lifting, pushing, and pulling
  • PRC (Police Record Check) and VSS (Vulnerable Sector Check) are required before the start date (not before the application)
  • Mandatory training requirement
