Research has shown that it is easy to spot bias in others, however, it is much more difficult to recognize our own biases. This session focuses on helping employees recognize one’s biases, understand how and when they are most susceptible to relying on one’s biases, and learn which strategies will work best to help prevent and interrupt bias from influencing workplace interactions. Participants will engage with real-life scenarios that raise awareness and empathy inspiring them to take steps towards positive behavioural changes to create more inclusive cultures.
Objectives:
- Reflect on one’s own biases to become more aware of how biased actions and words may impact interactions with others.
- Explore the outcomes associated with microaggressions by practicing inclusive language.
- Practice strategies for interrupting and overcoming bias in workplace situations.
