Position Summary: The Production Planner prepares production schedules for the manufacturing operation to ensure customer delivery objectives are met in an efficient and timely manner.  Works to ensure materials, equipment and personnel are used in the most efficient manner to achieve production targets and ensure 100% on time delivery.

Duties

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Works collaboratively with other Planners, as well as Customer Service, Purchasing, Engineering and Production to create a production schedule in support of customer delivery requirements.
  • Performs capacity analysis based on production levels, quantities, production sequences, time standards and equipment availability.
  • Prepares and assembles manufacturing information packages including drawings, Bills of Materials and routings for all aspects of production.
  • Monitors production progress against the production plan and takes corrective action, when necessary, to ensure on time delivery
  • Conduct all activities and execute all duties with enthusiasm and a positive, results-focused attitude.
  • Support company initiatives and policies enthusiastically.
  • Continuous Improvement activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education Required:

  • Ideal candidate will possess:
  • CPIM designation or equivalent. Also will consider those actively working towards training through APICS.
  • A Mechanical Engineering Technology diploma.
  • Applicants with equivalent education combined with applicable experience may also be considered.
  • Training or education in hydraulic systems, fluid power systems, manufacturing and design systems are considered assets.
Experience Required:                                                 
  • A minimum of three years planning/production scheduling experience.
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Hands-on manufacturing experience preferred, or demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
Skills and Attributes Required:
  • Highly motivated, self-starter.  Demonstrated ability to adhere to tight schedules with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to build credibility and strong partnerships at all levels.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or project management with a track record of effective and timely delivery.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other common applications.
