Description

Job Description: We are looking for a skilled Carpenter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry, with experience in reading blueprints, preparing layouts, and constructing various wooden structures. This role requires an individual who is detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks, and committed to high-quality workmanship.

Duties

  • Estimate Preparation: Prepare accurate estimates of labor and material costs for carpentry projects.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specific work requirements.
  • Layout Preparation: Prepare layouts in conformance with building codes, using precision measuring tools.
  • Material Handling: Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials such as wood, lightweight steel, and other substitutes.
  • Tender Preparation: Prepare tenders and quotations for potential projects.
  • Construction Tasks: Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
  • Installation: Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, moldings, and hardware as per project specifications.
  • Project Coordination: Schedule and coordinate work on-site, ensuring efficient and timely completion of tasks.
  • Surveying: Survey building locations and levels to ensure accuracy and adherence to design plans.
  • Training: Instruct apprentices and supervise other workers, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
  • Cost Estimation: Estimate costs and materials required for various projects.
  • Maintenance & Repair: Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in various settings, including mills, mines, hospitals, and industrial plants.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience is not required but is considered an Asset
  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and other carpentry equipment.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and construction techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong measurement and mathematical skills for precise cutting and installation.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
