Position Overview Calian Health is seeking a full-time Addictions Counsellor or Mental Health Nursewith a passion for delivering outpatient addiction services. This role involves providing specialized addictions counseling services for Canadian Armed Forces members at an exclusive outpatient clinic located on Canadian Forces Base Winnipeg. As part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team, the successful candidate will deliver tailored support and evidence-based interventions, contributing to the health and readiness of military personnel. Responsibilities - Assessing substance-use disorders, including differential assessment of concurrent disorder - Assessing process addictions, such as pathological gambling, sexual behaviour, and gaming - Participating in the development of a treatment plan with the client and the inter-disciplinary health care team to address the clients’ addiction - Providing therapeutic interventions such as Secondary Substance-Abuse Intervention Programs consistent with the established addiction assessment for the client in an individual or group setting - Evaluating the effectiveness of the counselling program, interventions, and the client’s progressing in resolving identified problems and movement toward personalized objectives - Facilitating educational activities and group interventions such as pre-deployment briefings, psychosocial services overview presentations, and group psycho-education sessions - Delivery of psycho-educational sessions such as addiction-free living - Creating and maintaining confidential client reports on treatment services Qualifications for Addictions Counsellor - Must have either a Bachelors in Social Work or a Master’s Degree in Social Work. - Must be licensed and in good standing with the Manitoba College of Social Workers. - Must have 2 years post-graduate experience in the last 5 years performing a range of clinical services including addictions assessment, treatment planning, individual therapy, and group therapy for an adult population. - Current certification or willingness to obtain CPR Level C with AED. Qualifications for Mental Health Nurse A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a recognized college or university with either a certificate in Mental Health Nursing or certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from the Canadian Nurses Association (CAN); • A Registered Nurse license from the provincial or territorial professional college or association in the province of practice; • 3 years of experience within the last 5 years in nursing practice performing a variety of mental health nursing activities such as supportive psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy, counselling, and crisis intervention or management in an adult community setting to clients suffering from mental illnesses or psycho-social difficulties. • A Certificate of Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider or equivalent such as Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) Level C. Annual recertification is required. OR Registered Psychiatric Nurses must, as a minimum possess: • A Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing or a Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing Degree from a recognized university; • A Registered Psychiatric Nurse practice permit/license from a province of practice; and • A Certificate of Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider or equivalent such as Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) Level C.
