Description
We are seeking a skilled Cabinetmaker's Helper to assist in the production and installation of custom cabinets and furniture. This role involves supporting the cabinetmaker in measuring, cutting, assembling, and finishing wooden pieces. The ideal candidate has a passion for woodworking and is eager to learn the trade by working closely with experienced cabinetmakers.
Duties
- Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas
- Assist the cabinetmakers in the construction activities.
- Assist in drilling and other activities related to cabinet installation
- Assist the cutting and shaping of wood, laminates, and other materials using saws, routers, and hand tools.
- Set up workspaces, gather necessary tools and materials, and ensure a clean, organized environment for cabinet assembly.
- Sand, smooth, and finish wooden surfaces to prepare them for painting, staining, or varnishing.
- Assist in attaching hinges, knobs, and handles to cabinets and furniture as per project specifications.
- Use basic power tools and hand tools, ensuring they are used safely and maintained regularly.
- Assist in interpreting blueprints and drawings to ensure the correct assembly of cabinets and other furniture pieces.
Qualifications
- Experience in woodworking or carpentry is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of woodworking tools and techniques
- Ability to assist with precise measurements and cuts.
- Keen attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver materials such as wood and lumber.
