Description
The Truck & Transport Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of company trucks and trailers to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role supports both internal operations and customer service standards by maintaining high-quality workmanship, staying on schedule, and contributing to a strong safety-first culture.
Duties
- Complete compliance-based service intervals on trucks and trailers, including:
- A/B Service: Greasing and full vehicle inspection
- C Service: Oil and filter changes, greasing, and full vehicle inspection
- Trailer 90-Day Inspections
- Diagnose mechanical issues and determine appropriate repair solutions
- Perform both minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers
- Conduct initial annual Manitoba safety inspections in accordance with provincial regulations
- Accurately document all inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities
- Ensure all work orders and planning sheets are completed accurately and submitted to the shop office in a timely manner
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational requirements
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a truck and transport mechanic or in a related role preferred
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Red Seal, Manitoba Safety Inspection Certificate) considered an asset
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of applicable safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
