Description

A Roofer is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining roofs on residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. This includes working with various materials such as shingles, metal, and tiles to ensure roofs are weatherproof and durable. Roofers assess roof conditions, remove old materials, install insulation, and apply protective layers. The role requires physical strength, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely at heights and in varying weather conditions. Strong teamwork skills and a focus on safety protocols are essential for success in this role. Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, or replace built-up roofing systems using materials like asphalt-saturated felts, hot asphalt, and gravel.
  • Install, repair, or replace single-ply roofing systems with waterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics or elastomeric compositions.
  • Install, repair, or replace shingles, shakes, and other roofing tiles on sloped roofs.
  • Install sheet metal flashings to prevent water penetration.
  • Apply waterproof coatings to concrete or masonry surfaces, both above and below ground.
  • Install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools.
  • Set up and dismantle scaffolding for safe access to work areas.
  • Estimate material requirements and provide cost quotes for projects.
  • Follow safety protocols when working at heights or with hazardous materials.
  • Inspect and assess roof conditions to determine repair or replacement needs.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and working at heights.
  • Experience: Prior experience in roofing is preferred, but training may be provided for entry-level candidates.
  • Knowledge of Roofing Materials: Familiarity with various roofing materials such as asphalt, shingles, metal, and waterproofing systems.
  • Tool Proficiency: Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Safety Awareness: Understanding and adherence to safety protocols and regulations, especially when working at heights.
  • Teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with other team members.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
