Description
MMPHL seeks a Nurse to provide primary care and support to individuals on the Pre-Treatment Unit. The Pre-Treatment Unit is a pilot project offering short-term, non-medical residential withdrawal support for a small group of participants who are preparing for longer-term treatment. We are pleased to move this initiative forward in collaboration with local partners, with the shared goal of strengthening health and wellness within our First Nations communities.

Provide primary care and support to individuals on the Pre-Treatment Unit
Qualifications
- Registered and licensed to practice in Manitoba as a Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and be a member in good standing. Bachelor of Nursing (BN) or Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing (BScPN) preferred.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of withdrawal management, stabilization procedures in a residential setting and Harm Reduction principles.
- Capacity to provide non-judgemental and compassionate care to individuals coping with substance use issues.
- Proven ability to work in crisis and be ability to apply policy and procedures as they relate.
- Must be able to function independently, be flexible and adapt quickly to change.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Competent in using computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills e.g. problem solving, solution focused, conflict resolution.
- Must be able to demonstrate how you lead a positive and healthy lifestyle (indicate in cover letter and/or references).
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for ongoing professional development activities and engagement in reciprocal learning experiences with colleagues, supervisors and employees.
- Knowledge and experience in traditional and contemporary healing practices.
- Shift will be days, and specific hours may be negotiable.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Current and valid CPR and Emergency First Aid certification required.
- Current Non-Violet Crisis Intervention training and Mental Health First Aid certification would be an asset.
