2018 Manitoba Start Employer Awards 

The Manitoba Start Employer Awards recognize Manitoba businesses who access our world-class talent and resources to strategically build a culture of diversity and inclusion within their organizations.

AWARD CATEGORIES

1. Manitoba Start Employer Partner of the Year – (max. 5 partners awarded annually)

The Employer Partner of the Year award recognizes an organization that is highly engaged in driving change to increase newcomer inclusivity in the workplace. This organization has been a partner of Manitoba Start since 2016.

Nomination submission questions:

1. When did your partnership with Manitoba Start begin?

2. Has your organization won a Manitoba Start Employer Award?

3. What Manitoba Start programs did you participated in during 2017? For example: Job Matching, Diversity & Intercultural Training, English at Work, Work Experience, Networking events (Industry Insights, Shared Success, Career Month, Mentoring, Employer Café, Information Sessions).

4. How has the Manitoba Start partnership assisted you in achieving your organization/business goals? (250 words max.)

5. Discuss what supports you provide to ensure the success of your newcomer employees? For example: recruitment, orientation/onboarding, training, career development? (250 words max.)

6. What has been the impact of hiring skilled/internationally trained newcomers for your business and your workforce? (250 words max.)

2. Manitoba Start Legacy Award For Excellence – (max. 5 partners awarded annually)

The Legacy Award for Excellence recognizes a distinguished organization for its contributions to the advancement of highly skilled newcomers in Manitoba and is an advocate for newcomer employment and inclusion. This Business Champion has strategically embedded processes which value the skills that internationally trained workers add to their business through their demonstrated excellence in their practices. This organization has been a partner of Manitoba Start for the past 5 years as well as a previous Manitoba Start Employer Award winner.

Selection Process

Nominations are reviewed by the Selection Committee comprised of Manitoba Start representatives, both Board and Management. Utilizing the nomination submission and Manitoba Start data, the Selection Committee will collectively choose the award recipients based on the organization’s ability to demonstrate their commitment to ensuring the success of internationally trained newcomers within their organization. Winning organizations will be notified one month prior to the event.
