MANITOBA START IS LOOKING FOR
WORKSTART CLIENTS

WorkStart is a unique program that offers Winnipeg businesses in high-demand sectors the opportunity to employ young professional newcomers with an  8-week paid work experience at no financial cost to the employer.

If you are:

  • Between the ages of 18-30
  • Job-ready
  • Permanent Resident
  • Have no participated in a WorkStart program in the past

CRA will be hosting virtual sessions via Webex on Tuesday, July 7th at 3:00 pm and on Wednesday, July 8th at 10:00 am for anyone who is interested in learning more about the Canada Emergency Response Benefit, the Canada Emergency Student Benefit, the additional Canada Child Benefit and GSTC payments and how to file a tax return during this pandemic. We will be providing basic information on how to find help and updated information via Canada.ca. There will be opportunities to ask general questions too.

New Journey Housing is a housing resource centre for newcomers to Canada. NJH provides help, assistance, and resources to guide newcomers to rent or purchase housing, and manage their money. Our primary clients are newcomers to Canada including permanent residents, international students, temporary foreign workers, asylum seekers, and naturalized Canadians.
We also support sponsors, landlords, and anyone else involved in newcomer housing.

Our services are offered in 2 ways: Workshops and Housing Advisor supports

Workshops: Rental, Home Purchasing and Money Management  – these workshops are currently offered via zoom

Housing Advisors – the team of 4 housing advisors meet with clients one on one to help them find housing, look at housing options, problem solve any housing issues, fill out and apply for housing (private and government subsidized housing like Manitoba Housing), apply for Rent Assist.

Income tax supports – Through months of February – April, NJH offers income tax filing free of charge through the CRA Community Volunteer Income Tax Program
