Mikaaming Mino Pimatiziwin Healing Lodge Inc. is launching a Pre-Treatment Pilot Project to offer short-term, non-medical residential withdrawal support for a small group of participants who are preparing for longer-term treatment. We are pleased to move this initiative forward in collaboration with local partners, with the shared goal of strengthening health and wellness within our First Nations communities.
Duties
MMPHL seeks Residential Care Workers, who report to the Pre-Treatment Unit Manager, to provide participant and unit support. This position requires a committed client-centered philosophy and approach.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 education. Health Care Aide training considered an asset.
- Suitable combination of education and experience working in a residential facility, addictions-related employment experience and/or volunteer work.
- Ability to work with a client-centered philosophy and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in an environment where traditional practices, such as smudging occur.
- Ability to do shift work.
- Ability to operate Microsoft applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- An understanding of, and sensitivity to, working with culturally diverse populations.
- Knowledge of the addictions field is required.
- Valid Class V driver’s license.
- Current CPR and Emergency First Aid certification required.
- Current Non-Violet Crisis Intervention training and Mental Health First Aid certification would be an asset.
- Fluency in a First Nation language an asset.
- Must be able to demonstrate how you lead a positive & healthy lifestyle (please identify in your cover letter and/or references).
