Westshore Marine and Leisure is a leading powersports dealership, specializing in boats, ATVs, and outdoor recreational vehicles. We are looking for an experienced Marine Technician to join our service team and work on boat engines and marine systems. Job Responsibilities Marine Engine Maintenance & Repair
- Review work orders and discuss work to be performed with the supervisor.
- Diagnose, repair, and service outboard and inboard marine engines (e.g., Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, Evinrude, Suzuki, Volvo Penta, etc.).
- Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, water pump replacements, and fuel system cleaning.
- Troubleshoot and repair ignition, fuel, cooling, and electrical systems on boats.
- Install, repair, and maintain steering systems, propellers, and trim systems.
- Conduct rigging and pre-delivery inspections on new boats.
- Install and troubleshoot marine electronics (GPS, depth finders, sonar, VHF radios).
- Communicate with customers to explain repairs and provide cost estimates.
- Document all work performed in service reports.
- Assist with warranty claims and ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Follow all safety procedures when working with tools and marine fuels.
- Stay up-to-date with marine technology advancements through training.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years working as a Marine Technician or Marine Mechanic.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with outboard and inboard engines, EFI and carbureted systems, and marine electrical systems.
- Certifications (Preferred): Marine industry certifications (e.g., Suzuki, Mercury Marine, Yamaha, Lund, Bennington, Honda).
- Diagnostic Skills: Ability to use diagnostic tools like ECU scanners and compression testers.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy parts, bend, kneel, and work in outdoor conditions.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver's license (boating license is a plus).
